There has been a change of date and venue for the DPA outing as mentioned in today's meeting.
Original Venue: Sentosa Original Itinerary: Sentosa Packaged Tour Original Date: 2 September 2008
However, we've changed the venue as it is too expensive to take up the packaged tour in Sentosa, and if we were to take up different attractions in Sentosa, it will add up to about the same cost ($33.90 per pax) unless we take up only one attraction and it probably cannot last us for one whole day together.
Also, the change of date is to accomodate everyone's holiday. As many of you guys know, Design School students have different holidays from other schools, so we've changed to a date when everyone is having holidays.
New venue: Pasir Ris Park New Itinerary: BBQ & Get Together Session New Date: 23 September 2008
This is easier and better as we can get food catered easily, and it is not as expensive as the Sentosa trip. Then we can do many different things there at DownTown East (E.G. watch movie, cycle, throw pple into the water etc etc etc). :D
The next meeting will be held on 02 September 2008, venue will be reconfirmed.
Please take note that only people from MAIN COMM needs to turn up for the meeting on 02 September 2008. The purpose of this meeting is to decide the itinerary for DPA meeting, logistics and financial confirmations etc etc etc, and then info will be passed down to sub comm. :D
Ok that's about it! :D
See you around in School! :D
Oh yes, and good luck for the coming exams DPA people! :D

1. The Direct Polytechnic Admissions (DPA) Exercise is an admission exercise which allows students who have the passion and
aptitude for applied learning to secure a place in a polytechnic course before you sit for your ‘O’ Level examinations.
2. It’s an avenue for students whose passion and talent in a specific field are not fully reflected in their examination results.
Why DPA?
It gives us greater flexibility to select you based on a wider range of your talents other than your examination results.
You get to enjoy special preparatory programmes which let you chalk up poly credits counting towards your graduation before your friends even enrol!
What our Pioneers say!
Cheryl:
“Initially, I wondered why my other secondary school friends were playing while I was studying and starting my poly life so soon. Over time, I have learnt many things from DPA.
My Cross Disciplinary Subjects: Japanese Language and Psychology of Creativity, are subjects that I don’t find in my secondary school. I also learnt to be a leader when we were camping together.
It's more than studies in Polytechnic Preparatory Programme (PPP). It's all about fun, learning, interaction and friendship. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
Nur Fazleena:
“I personally feel that DPA is very enriching as we are given a broader view and better insights about the courses offered in the Business school. Also,we are lucky to be able to try out some CCAs.
PPP helps us to be more familiar with the TP environment and culture. We have the chance to bond with the seniors too. It feels great to be among the unique first batch of students.”
Zhi Yong:
“DPA - It’s an exercise we would never want to miss, a journey that leads to great friendships and unexpected valuable learning as well.”
Kenneth:
"DPA is one admission exercise different from any other Direct Entry Exercise. The friends you make here last forever.
Besides, DPA allows me to finish three CDS and collect nine credit units within the fun-filled eight-week PPP in TP."
Theresa:
"DPA gives an edge over the rest? Definitely! And it comes with whole lot of fun, learning and excitement.
The best part is I get to meet friends that I would never let go of."
